The Penn State Alumni Association

What’s been happening:

I retired in 2008 after a diverse career. I worked in the aerospace industry as a mission analyst, in the computer industry as a test engineer, and in the software development industry as a technical writer. My first project after graduation from Penn State in 1970 was to do a thermal analysis of the Apollo 15 camera, which now rests on the surface of the moon. Road running was a large part of my personal life. I competed in over 150 races and continue to add to that total. So far, I have done 19 marathons, including two Boston Marathons, four New York Marathons, and the original Athens Marathon from the town of Marathon to Athens, commemorating the legendary run of Phidippides in 490 BC after the Greek victory over the Persians. In addition to competing, I produced and hosted The Runners' Journal, a television show dedicated to the sport. The show received numerous awards and recognition at the state and national levels. I am still an avid follower of the Penn State football and wrestling teams. I am also an active hiker and have been to the top of Mt. Whitney and Mt. Elbert, the two highest mountains in the continental US. The years since graduation from Penn State have passed quickly, but they have been full of adventure and all the challenges that make life so exciting.
